The (now) Harrell Family and I met back on April 1 for their engagement session. We turned it into a family session for them so we could include the sweet children. We met up at the Big Oak in Thomasville before moving downtown and then to their family farm outside of Cairo. It’s the same farm their wedding was at nearly 6 days later!

I had so much fun this weekend photographing Dee & Dustin for their engagement session! The soon-to-be Bride decided on a fresh, summer theme. We grabbed an antique love seat and then they snuggled on one of her grandmother’s quilts. They even went fishing after cuddling up by Dustin’s Airstream (the duo takes it to music festivals). I’m very excited about their wedding in September and can’t wait to see how Dee styles it!
Did you know I’m the resident photographer for Tallahassee’s Natural Awakenings magazine? Completely true!
In February, the editor called me up to schedule a photo shoot with Nathan, the Man in Overalls. He’s a fantastic guy who is very involved in the community and an educator too! My favorite image of him proudly holding a shovel and bouquet of freshly gathered greens & carrots made the cover and a few of the others made it to the inside article.
When I arrived at Nathan’s I was struck by how many different plants he had growing in the raised beds he built! The most beautiful were the cabbage and carrots.
It wasn’t difficult to capture Nathan’s smile – he’s got to be one of the happiest people I’ve ever met!
Below are the iGrows he built and is promoting for a great cause. From their website: iGrow-Whatever You Like is a Frenchtown-based youth empowerment and urban agriculture project, named and largely run by the youth themselves. The iGrow Youth are responsible for the community garden at Second Harvest Food Bank and for manufacturing iGrow Garden Buckets. They aspire to launch a youth-run urban farm in the Frenchtown Community. iGrow is an initiative of the Tallahassee Food Network.
Store bought tomatoes are too acidic for me so my doctor suggested I start growing my own. I did not, by any means, inherit my mother’s green thumbs. I swear, she just looks at a plant sweetly and it starts to thrive. The only time I actually got anything to grow was when I was doing botany research on roses, flowering kale, and soybeans (and, even then, a slew of them died).
My sweetest of sweethearts went and bought me 2 iGrows with heirloom tomato plants! Right after I finish writing this I’m going to go pick them up (and keep them inside because of the still cool temperatures). These babies are going to do great on my front porch and away from Pumpkin, the family dog who is known to eat everything living.

I knew Rheannon was my kind of bride the first time we spoke on the phone. This gal is full of life and simply a joy to be around. Her hubby Clark is a swell fellow in his own right. Their ceremony was in the beautiful Christ Episcopal Church in Cordele, Georgia. They were surrounded by family and friends (and Clark’s darling little daughter). After the ceremony we ran off to her mother’s home on the river for a poolside brunch. Congrats and many blessings to the happy couple!
PS – All of my wedding collections now include an album credit. Chances are more of my blog posts will look like this one. Yep, I was so excited I went ahead and designed the album!
Man ‘o man, do I ever love getting deals. Makes me feel all tingly inside. What’s even better? Passing deals on!
For the month of November, I’m offering a holiday mini-session package in Cairo or Tallahassee. These 30 minute sessions cost just $130 and includes 25 holiday cards & an 11×14 inch print. The total cost is less than a regular session fee – a steal! And we can take them anywhere you like. My favorites are Maclay Gardens, Dorothy B. Oven Park, downtown, the Railroad Square area – what’s your favorite spot?
And these new holiday cards! These 5×7 inch flat babies instantly cheer up mailboxes and look fantastic on fridges (yes, I tested them). Need more than 25? Each additional set is $40 plus tax. If you’ve already had a session or event this year & would like to use those photos, call me to order a set of cards. Take a look at the options!
So bring your sweetheart, your best friends, your little string bean, your pup, even your in-laws (your call). Your cards will be ready for you to mail by December 10. And one more item will be checked off your list. Contact me at 229/224-6021 or hello@ansleystudio.com to reserve your session today!
